Complete Smile Makeovers with Porcelain Veneers
We all want a beautiful smile, but unfortunately, most of us weren’t born with the perfectly even, dazzlingly white teeth and perfect gums that we wish we had. Fortunately, Dr. Steven Huffstutler has the training, skill, and high standards for dental esthetics to help you achieve a gorgeous smile with custom-made cosmetic porcelain veneers.
Porcelain Veneers: An Overview
Porcelain veneers are thin shells of dental porcelain that Dr. Huffstutler bonds directly to the fronts of your teeth. Dental porcelain is shaded to match your natural teeth and reflects light in a similar manner to tooth enamel, which means your veneers will look and function like natural teeth, and blend seamlessly with your smile. Porcelain veneers are a single solution for a wide range of cosmetic issues, and can:
- Correct the appearance of uneven or crooked teeth (earning them the nickname “instant orthodontics”)
- Mask severe, intrinsic stains that will not respond to teeth whitening systems
- Hide chipped teeth or teeth with small breaks (larger breaks would be better addressed with a full dental crown)
- Lengthen teeth that have been worn down
- Redefine oddly shaped teeth
- Mask teeth that have a pitted texture
- Close gaps between teeth
The Procedure
Before recommending veneers, Dr. Huffstutler will take digital X-rays and perform a visual examination to make sure your tooth enamel and oral structures are healthy enough to support veneers. Next, Dr. Huffstutler will determine the final design of your veneers, including the overall shape, texture, and shading, so it meets your expectations. Then, he will prepare the tooth receiving the veneer by removing a minuscule amount of enamel. Finally, an impression of your teeth will be taken, which will be used to create your custom-fitted porcelain veneers. Once your veneers are complete and have returned from the dental lab, Dr. Huffstutler will check the fit and then bond them into place When you leave our office, you will have a gorgeous new smile that you’ll want to share with the world.
