Now that school is quickly coming to a close, are you looking for some fun activities you can enjoy as a family? Well the summer is always a great time to see what’s new at the Fort Worth Zoo. In addition to all the wonderful animals your kids can meet at the zoo, guests can also take advantage of the Outdoor Learning Theater, The Yellow Rose Express Train, the Country Carousel and much more! Plus, the zoo is open year-round, and offers half-price admission every Wednesday, giving families plenty of chances to visit without breaking the bank.
What Can Kids Enjoy at the Zoo?
While animals like elephants and gorillas are among the zoo’s biggest draws, there are plenty of other exciting and affordable things to visit while at the zoo. The Yellow Rose Express Train is just $3 per person, as is the Country Carousel. There is also a Texas Wild! Petting Corral, which regularly features animals like domesticated goats and chickens, Texas tortoises and even corn snakes for the super brave.
A Playbarn complete with spots for climbing, sliding and crawling, is perfect for young guests, while the Wild West Shooting Gallery is great for older guests. It involves a laser target game, for just $1 per play.
There is also a 60-foot Swinging Swamp Bridge, tornado and hurricane simulators, a Texas Nature Traders area, which helps kids learn through the use of fossils, rocks, plants and more.
And Tasmanian Tower is perfect for the truly adventures kids in your life. It’s a 25-foot tall rock climbing wall, which guests can climb for just $4 per person.
The zoo is now open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday, though those hours will shift to 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, July 3 through October 1, 2017.
Toddlers two and younger enjoy free admission, while seniors 65-years and older receive a discounted price of $10. General admission is $14 for those 13-years-old and older, and $10 for children 3-years-old through 12-years-old. Zoo parking is just $5 per vehicle.
