Full Mouth Restoration

lipsA full-mouth restoration, also referred to as a full-mouth reconstruction, is a large undertaking, but when done properly will improve the function and esthetics of your smile and increase your self-confidence. A full-mouth restoration is also an investment. Depending upon what sorts of treatments you choose and the types of dental materials utilized there are varying degrees of expense. Another concern is dental experience. Does the dentist you’re considering possess expertise in this area? Dr. Huffstutler has more than 25 years of professional dental experience and takes pride in designing and fitting a variety of dental restorations for full mouth reconstructions.

If Price is a Consideration

If price is a consideration there are many options available at different levels of expense. From most to least expensive are:

  • Dental Implants: Dental implants are the most natural looking and feeling option. They require surgery to place a titanium post with an abutment into your jaw bone for each tooth. It will take up to three months for the jawbone to heal. At that time a crown (artificial tooth) is cemented onto the abutment.
  • Bridges: Dental bridges require healthy adjacent teeth by which they are supported. The pontic (artificial tooth) will have a crown on each side. The adjacent teeth are shaved down to accommodate the crowns to which the crowns are permanently bonded.
  • Partial Dentures: A partial denture consists of several, but not a full arch of replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored acrylic base. The plastic base is seated onto the patient’s gum and is also attached to the remaining healthy teeth with a metal framework.
  • Full Dentures: Full dentures replace all the teeth in an arch. They too consist of the replacement teeth attached to a gum-colored base. They are held in place via denture adhesive and suction.

A full mouth restoration can consist of any or a mix of the above dental treatments.
